Doha\u2019s history spans more than 200 years, beginning as a modest coastal settlement. Originally known as Al Bidda, it emerged in the 18th century as a small fishing and pearling village along the Arabian Gulf. It served Bedouin tribes as a trading post and anchorage, while pearl diving formed the backbone of the local economy long before the discovery of oil. <\/p>\n

Throughout the 19th century, Doha expanded steadily, becoming one of the most important coastal towns in the region. In 1825, it was declared the capital of present-day Qatar and has since developed under the leadership of the Al Thani family, who continue to guide the nation today. <\/p>\n
